why is the wed comp held over 18 holes, most clubs only play 12 or 14 to allow members who have work commitments to compete. it is almost impossible to complete 18 holes if you tee of at 6.00pm.i have also noticed dress code on the course is very slack with players wearing jeans and track bottoms. why do course officals allow this.
The council can only enforce the dress code during competitions, but they feel members should be setting an example on the course through-out the week.
I checked the results today Sat 18-10-08 in the Results Book and found that I was 10th. I was pleased with this position but when I checked the results on the computer I found that on 26-04-08 I had a 67 and on 26-07-08 I had a 68 and I know that on the 11-10-08 I had a 67. I also think that on the 30-08-08 I also had a below Par round. The Sheet recorded that I had 2 Rounds of 70 which I want to Challenge. Whilst this will not change the Result of the Competion I would like my know my Score for each Round of the Davidson Cup espically 30-08-08. Thank You in Anticapition. Best Regards John Jordan Snr.
The club pays out 70% of the money paid into the 2's competition each week. The remaining 30% is put towards the running of the club e.g. entry and hospitality associated with the GUI competitions.
The Club Masters was played on Sat 03-10-09 and was won by Lee Tweedie Snr. On the Sheet listing the Qualifiers for the Club Masters on the Web and in the Club house Lee Tweedie Snr was not listed. I checked the Competitions for the Qualifers and Lee Tweedie Snr won the Sat Competition for the National Pro Am Qualifier but this competition was Cancelled and on the Web Site was listed as a normal Saturday Stableford Competition not a Qualifying Competion for the Club Masters. When the Sheet for the Qualifiers was put on the board in the Club House the slot for the National Pro Am Qualifer was left blank as it is on the Web but was then filled in by someone with Lee Tweedie Snr's name. The Question I am asking is - Was the Sat Competition for 13-06-09 a Qualifing Competiton or not and if it was why was the Sheet for the Qualifiers not updated on the Web and put on the Board in the Club House.
I have to admit this is my mistake for not updating the lists on the club notice boards and the website, leading to the confusion. The competition on the 13th June was to be the qualifying event for the National Pro Am but due to the lack of competition details received by the club and Jonny Foster we couldn't offer a place at the Pro Am Event to the winner. Although Lee was the overall winner on the day I didn't include his name on the winners list on the club website to ensure he was aware he didn't qualify for the Pro Am Event. I then used this webpage to generate the list of qualifiers for the Club Masters, so again Lee's name wasn't included and although this was pointed out to me before Saturdays competition I didn't get a chance to update the sheets. You may have noticed the lists didn't include the Davidson Cup winner as well.
The results on www.howdidido.com should not be different as they are uploaded directly from the club computer by the handicap software.
Please remember there are two course for the Winter League, so the results published on the club website and in the club are complied using both courses. On www.howdidido.com each course is published separately and you could be placed in the top three for your course but when compared to the other you may not be placed in the top three.
Also on the club website we're able to inform members how much was paid out for the 2's, the Sunday and Wednesday sweeps.
Are junior members allowed to compete in the Saturday and Sunday stableford!?I entered the Sunday stableford on the 17th of January and my result wasn't posted! Thanks Alan Simpson
Junior members are allowed to compete in Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday competitions.
Please ensure you sign into the competition on the club computer before starting your round. Then enter your score on the club computer once your round is completed.
Although we have located your card from Sunday, there is no record of any returned scores entered onto the club computer.
You don't need a membership card to record your scores, you can use the club's touch screen computer.
To sign in, touch the 'Sign In' button followed by the Index button before using the on screen keyboard to type your name starting with your surname first. Once you found your name highlight it and then click the accept button.
To enter your score at the end of a round follow the same procedure to sign.
If, like during the Winter, there are two competitions set-up for the same day make sure you sign in and enter your score into the correct competition.
Hello. I can't find anywhere on the website that details the qualifiers for the 36 hole club champion final. Could the list of qualifiers be shown somewhere on the website? Thanks,
Every Saturday during the summer that there is a individual competition, i.e. you are not playing as a pair, points are awarded for the top 20 in each section/division.
Then at the end of the season the member who has scored the highest points is presented with the Golfer of the Year trophy at prize night.
I would like to use this opportunity to comment on the club rule regarding 3 persons being required to play before members can be admitted to the Saturday competition. Were I can appreciate this attempts to negate the possibility of incorrect scores being entered, it has not been deemed necessary for Sunday or Wednesday competitions. My complaint regarding this is magnified as I play at 1355rs and it has been nearly impossible for Noel to find us a third at this late time of the day. On two seperate occasions this playing year I have been unable to enter the competition. On Saturday past it was only through good fortune that another member was practising when my tee time arrived and he agreed to join us which allowed me and my playing partner to enter the competition. I was doubly blessed by playing my best round of the year and winning the competition! Who would not have been beside themselves with anger if they had returned a great score and been prohibited from playing? Surely we are all honourable players who can be trusted to submit accurately our true scores. Please consider the position of your fellow club members who tee off later in the day and are being penalised unfairly and unnecessarily. Thank you.
There are six Davidson Cup stroke competitions held at the end of each month during the summer.
The aggregate of the best four nett scores from the six rounds is your overall total. The member with the lowest overall total score wins the Cup at Prize night.
You must play at least four of the sixth weeks but you don't have to play all six to win the cup.
Last years winning results can be found at: http://www.greenacres-golfclub.co.uk/results/winners09.htm
The Match & Handicap Committee feel it is a necessity to require members to play as a 3ball on a Saturday as this is our main competition day and there are additional prizes to be won, compared to a Wednesday and Sunday. Also there is a more minor issue of the limited number of tee times available that we could not accommodate members playing as a 2ball through-out the year.
However we do feel there needs to be a certain amount of flexibility from the members playing around the same time. i.e. someone from the 4Ball in front or behind join the 2Ball or a 2Ball split to join other 3Balls. Although we do recognise this may not always be possible for the very late starters, so the Starter has the permission of Match & Handicap and the Council to use his discretion to waiver the rule for these members ONLY.
If required the starter has the backing of the Council refuse entry into the competition if members will not to allow another member to join their 3Ball or refuse to split to join other groups.
Although the R&A have not banned the use of Range Finders and other such devices, it is up to individual clubs to introduce a local rule permitting their use in a competition.
After discussing this matter the Council have decided NOT to introduce a local rule as thy feel these devices have the potential to further slow down play.
We will continue to monitor the situation and may review this decision in the future.
Sorry, but I don't understand the above comment. I take it that since no rule has been introduced such devices can be used during competition. I also fail to understand the comment that such devices have the potential to further slow down play. Surely knowing your distance to the green from any point on the course speeds up play as you don't need to go looking for the 150/100 yard markers then attempt to work out your distance.
There will be no order of merit points awarded on Saturday 18th September 2010, as there are two different formats being played by players in the same division and some members will be playing 2 rounds.
I would like to know is there a reason why there is very little sand in all of your bunkers .and why you have got quite a large amount of members and you dont give any loyalty towards them it seems impossible to get a regular tee of time seems to be take it our leave attitude idont have a blog account but it from (danny mcallister
Just to clarify Greenacres Golf Centre and not Greenacres Golf Club are responsible for the the management of the course.
We know the Golf Centre would agree with your comment on the bunkers, which is why they have changed the sand in a number of them already and will continue to do so until all have been completed.
Greenacres Golf Club only have full use of the course on a Saturday up until our last tee time, after then and through-out the rest of the week Greenacres Golf Centre are responsible for tee times.
Although other clubs do things differently we feel the fairest way to manage tee times on a Saturday is via the Start Sheet. This start sheet is composed prior to the summer competitions and is based on the master sheet from the previous summer. Unfortunately as we do have a large number of members who want to play Saturday golf, new members joining the club have to avail of the later tee times.
This is why 1. Members have the opportunity, through-out the year, to put in a written request to the Match and Handicap committee for a new tee time. These are then allocated as and when a slot becomes available. Aside: It is very hard / nearly impossible to find a new tee time for a 4 or 3 ball compared to an individual member.
2. We ask members who are not able to play on a Saturday to score their names off the start sheet before 5:30pm on a Friday to give other members the opportunity to play at an earlier time.
Once the start sheet is finalised you will find that tee times are adjusted for only a small number of competitions until the daylight in the morning necessitates a change. Then we put everyone back by a set time and if required will reduce the number of holes played to ensure everyone can complete their round. Hence the reason last years Winter League was played over two 9 holes courses with two separate start sheets.
The above comment has to have came from Gareth Hannah. The committee are considering allowing you to play off the ladies tees instead of such drastic changes to the greens partner :)
Can you explain how the standard scratch is worked out? On Sunday only one person scored over 36 points (37) and the highest score a low handicapper got was 34. Standard Scratch was 70 or 36 points.
The club computer automatically works out the SSS for every competition. The following is taken from CONGU rules which shows how the CSS is calculated: 1. Establish the composition of the field as a percentage of each handicap category excluding category 4 e.g. 10% Cat 1; 50% Cat 2; 40% Cat 3. 2. Establish the percentage of the field (Cat 1 to Cat 3) with a nett score of the SSS +2 or better e.g. 20% 3. Then using these percentages refer to the table in Appendix B
The Sunday Competition mentioned above: The field was only 14 as the rest of the scores returned were from Cat 4 players. There were 0% Cat1; 43% Cat 2; 57% Cat 3 There were 21% scored SSS +2 or better
How is the prize money allocated for the matchplay competitions? Given that there was over £600 taken in for the pairs I would imagine the payouts would be fairly big

ReplyDeleteWhat about providing a practice net at the first tee?
