if your ball becomes to lie on the bank on the 6th hole were dos the hazard start becouse there are no clear markings or red/yellow lines? do you take if from (post to post)or do you just make an educated guess?
The rules state 'a water hazard is any sea, lake, pond, river, ditch, surface drainage ditch or other open water course (whether or not containing water) and anything of a similar nature on the course. All ground and water within the margin of a water hazard are part of the water hazard. When the margin of a water hazard is defined by stakes, the stakes are inside the water hazard, and the margin of the hazard is defined by the nearest outside points of the stakes at ground level. A ball is in a water hazard when it lies in or any part of it touches the water hazard' All our water hazards should be marked by posts, these posts will define whether the ball is in the water hazard or not. To ensure there is no confusion the Match & Handicap Commitee will review the location of the stakes especially around all the lakes on the 3rd and 6th.
The ground around the new young trees on the 1st and the 17th has been declared GUR, to protect the trees. You will get a free drop provided you and you playing partners agree the ball entered the GUR.
i posted a comment on the ruling about the trees marked with white paint.i have spoken 2 a few members and some say u get a free drop and some say u dont !!! what is the actual ruling 4 this as it seems no one seems 2 know the actual ruling
Traditionally we cut members playing on a Saturday only during the Winter but this year M&H are considering cutting members who play in the Sunday and Wednesday stableford competitions.
Although once the Winter is over all handicap will revert back to the exact playing handicap at the end of the summer.
The exception to this will be the members who will have their handicap adjusted as part of the handicap review.
the rule on paths says that a ball coming to rest on a path can be dropped without penalty, so if your ball is not on the path you don't get relief, I have seen players taking free relief when they are standing on the path but their ball is not on the path.could you please confirm no relief if your ball is not on the path.thanks michael arbuthnot.
As the paths are not an integral part of the course under the rules of golf they are an immovable obstruction, meaning a player can take relief if the obstruction interferes with the player's stance or the area of his intended swing.
Members are normally added to the Club computer only after their handicap has been allocated. Although if you wish to play on a Saturday you will need to be added prior to handicap allocation to be able to book a tee time.
Also once your handicap is allocated you will be added to Golfnet - the central GUI handicap database; who in turn issue your GUI card.
Members are only allocated to the website databases upon request. Please email mandh@greenacres-golfclub.co.uk and let us know your name and if you have submitted your cards for handicap.
If your post is about the GPS range finders then yes they are allowed in competitions, as they are permitted by the R&A. Note: It is important that the device doesn't read anything else. E.g. An iPhone can have an app which tells the user wind speed which is not permitted.
Rules state: 'Features that would render use of the device contrary to the Local Rule include, but are not limited to: the gauging or measuring of slope; the gauging or measuring of other conditions that might affect play (e.g. wind speed or direction, or other climate-based information such as temperature, humidity, etc.); recommendations that might assist the player in making a stroke or in his play (e.g. club selection, type of shot to be played, green reading or any other advice related matter); or calculating the effective distance between two points based on slope or other conditions affecting shot distance.
Such non-conforming features render use of the device contrary to the Rules, irrespective of whether or not: the features can be switched off or disengaged; and the features are switched off or disengaged.
A multi-functional device, such as a smartphone or PDA, may be used as a distance measuring device provided it contains a distance measuring application that meets all of the above limitations (i.e. it must measure distance only). In addition, when the distance measuring application is being used, there must be no other features or applications installed on the device that, if used, would be in breach of the Rules, whether or not they are actually used.

ReplyDeleteThe distance markers are to the front of the greens.
ReplyDeleteThe trees on the left of the first fairway are in play. You will only get a drop if there is a staked tree interfering with your play.
